PM2.5 Reduce Experiment : Various Masks

Ataya : It's time to testing how good of  various masks can be use to filtering PM2.5 while breathing. I had tissue paper, cloth face mask, surgical mask and PM2.5 mask. Let's see the result ...

All masks and PM2.5 monitor(read before testing at 32 milligram / cubicmeter )

Tissue Paper

Surgical Mask

PM2.5 Mask

Tissue Paper : reduced by 32-8 = 24 milligram / cubicmeter 

                            reduce rate = 24/32*100 = 75 %

Cloth Face Mask : reduced by 32-13 = 19 milligram / cubicmeter

                                  reduce rate = 19/32*100 = 59.38 %

Surgical Mask : reduced by 32-10 = 22 milligram / cubicmeter

                              reduce rate = 22/32 *100 = 68.75 %

PM2.5 Mask : reduced by 32-4 = 28 milligram / cubicmeter

                          reduce rate = 28/32*100 =   87.5 %

So, the ranking of masks for filtering PM25 are 1. PM2.5 Mask 2.Tissue Paper 3.Surgical Mask 4.Cloth Face Mask 

In case that you can not afford PM2.5 mask you can use cloth mask with tissue paper inside. Save the world save yourself !!
